Main Street Palestine Tx  The historic central busines district is full of 44 blocks of turn of the century buildings.  There is a huge renovation process going on in Palestine.  Currently there are 29 buildings undergoing rehabilitation.   Several have been renovated recently including the Redlands Hotel.   Look at old photos of Palestine on this site.

Museum for East Texas Culture  The museum is located in the John H. Reagan High School in the large city park near downtown.  The many old classrooms show collections ranging from the history of John H. Reagan (a local resident) to High School history including yearbooks and much historical research material for homes and businesses in the county.

Palestine Chamber of Commerce  The Chamber offers a variety of services and information for the visitor.   A very active organization, this Chamber is a leader in the community .. definitely a new and old business's best friend.

Palestine Public Library  offers historical geneology information for decades of Anderson County residents along with historical research material for many subjects including the Norman W. Mollard military history collection.  See the site for opening hours for the Palestine Texas Library.

Texas State Railroad   Vintage steam and diesel locomotives take passengers across the celebrated rails of the Piney Woods Route between the quaint East Texas towns of Palestine and Rusk on a 50-mile roundtrip adventure. The 25 miles of rail on which the Texas State Railroad travels is the link between two iconic East Texas towns. Both are well-known for their natural beauty, historic charm, and Victorian-style architecture.

Art Tracks   Art Tracks is a juried exhibit featuring outdoor sculptures in prominent Main Street Locations in Palestine.  Art Tracks is a project of the Palestine Main Street Department and Palestine Tomorrow.   There is also a park across from the Visitor Center being developed for sculptures and railroad history.

Dogwood Trails Celebration  This long-time celebration takes place the last two weekends in March and first weekend in April.  Enjoy the delicate beauty of the dogwood trees in Davey Dogwood Park and the surrounding area.  Activities are scheduled each weekend to compliment the Celebration, including the Dogwood Trails Festival, the first weekend. 

Entertainment & Goods

Texas Community Theater  The crown jewel Historic Main Street Palestine, the ongoing restoration continues.  It is home to a very active community theater group offering live productions throughout the year.  The restored neon light on the front of the building is a bright beacon during show time.

The Pint & Barrel Drafthouse is a great stop for casual food fare and a variety of beers and wine in a vintage setting.  Other shops, restaurant and bar are in the Old Town Palestine area on 302 E. Crawford.

Oxbow Bakery and Antiques.  One of the best pies in the world!!  Stop in Tues - Saturday for pie and antiques or a light lunch.  Located in Old Town at 303 E. Crawford. 

MaryJean's Boutique by Artifacts is a delightful collage of boutique clothing, gifts and garden items.  Located in the Redlands Historic Inn on the first floor, one will be entertained with colorful and unusual merchandise.

Redfire Grille is also located in the Redlands building.   Chef Christian Mailloux serves  a beautiful dinner in a lovely setting.   The Restaurant and its staff stands ready to give you a first class experience which will keep you coming back again and again.    

Duncan Depot  Antiques is an excellent  store in the downtown area.  Loads of furniture, interesting collectables, glassware and memoriabilia await your leisurely visit.   The restored building is fascinating.  Be sure to ask about the restoration project complete a few years ago.   106 W Main St

Granny Muffin Wines is a delightful downtown brewed winery next to our building.  You will enjoy fine art in a gallery setting along with gourmet items and wine accessories.  Be sure to say hi to Granny!
